The man, who saved one life – saved all the humanity
January, 27 – international Memory day of Holocaust victims.
Each year, on January 27th, we remember 6 millions of Holocaust victims, 6 millions of people who were murdered only for that fact, that they were jews. Every year there are memorable ceremonies are holding all over the world.
On January 27, Odessa Youth Jewish center Hillel together with the Israel cultural center made an event, devoted to the international Memory day of Holocaust victims. The main theme of the ceremony – “Visa for life”, or the diplomate’s feat during the 2nd World War. There were people, who were saving jews, who helped them to leave their countries by giving them false documents and survive in such a way. The main part of those diplomatists were given the title “Righteous among the Nations” only after their death.
In the memorable ceremony took part the representatives of the diplomatic corps, Ukrainian ministry of foreign affairs, Odessa city council and leaders of the Jewish organizations of Odessa. More than 250 students took part in the event.
